Concept of "METI CREATIVE JAPAN"

SENGAI, a Zen monk and painter of the Edo period, is known for the free-spirited way in which he lived. One of his representative paintings, ○△□, is said to express the fundamentals of the universe, but the truth is veiled in mystery. This is an unrestrained painting, posing us a riddle. The universe of Japanese fabric, created through the tireless quest toward excellence / an everlasting mystery, is presented in the concept of ○△□.

NATURAL CREATION designed by Artisan

Natural and artificial, simple and refined, traditional and contemporary, nature and art… these opposite elements, located at both ends on a diagonal line, cross and react to each other throughout the advance of the techniques in the development of textile. These elements resonate and coexist in the hands of contemporary artisans, who manipulate their craft using the latest techniques. In their hands, the natural fiber is sublimated, or its hidden potential is brought out, while its originality is kept. Furthermore, Japanese artisans have continuously given birth to a quartet of four elements - remaining natural, possessing high quality, having refined beauty, and maintaining correct and practical functionality – and produce a new wave, both evolved and innovative, which can be called "POST-NATURAL."

ANIMATE CREATION designed by Fantasy

The world of the imaging technology is expanding without pause and continues going on around us uninterruptedly. Nowadays, cartoons and animation have established a genre in art, and its most advanced technologies lead us to the futuristic virtual world. On the other hand, it invites us to the world of wondrous fantasy that represents an encounter with a dream or reveals some unknown warmth that had lain hidden or dormant inside us.

SCIENCE CREATION designed by Technology

The triangle session by "profound interest in an invisible internal structure," "active use and flexible application of new scientific technology," and the "exploration of new beauty through spontaneous ideas" continues to develop a new field for synthesis fabric, which is both innovative and emotional with avant-garde attractiveness, and which features the complicated and precise inner structure hidden in the exquisite transparency, well-performance in close affinity with people, and upholds the trinity of creation where material, function and the aesthetic are in complete harmony. Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below…

A juvenile animation created and directed by Makoto SHINKAI, a magician of images, about the encounter between a girl living on the ground and a boy living in the underworld, and their growth. The mountain town where the main character lives, the fresh greenery and wavering water light in the underworld and other beauties of nature depicted in the film remind us of the preciousness of nature. The anime film was released in Japan in May 2011 and distributed by CoMix Wave Films Inc.
